Rebecca Ford Johnson
Rebecca’s coaching philosophy centres around the cultivation of rapport, enabling her coachees to engage in reflective dialogue in order to identify potential obstacles and unlock inherent strengths. Rebecca coaches individuals towards creating strategies for both personal and professional growth. Her coaching approach is characterised by warmth and candour, fostering an environment free from judgement. She has been described as “highly professional, empathetic and supportive while knowing when to push to consider issues from a different perspective or challenge current thinking”.
Passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion, Rebecca brings experience, empathy and understanding to her coaching practice and has a particular (although not exclusive) interest in supporting women in their professional progression. She provides leadership development coaching (such as supporting senior associates working towards partnership, guiding individuals through the partnership process, and offering ongoing support to new partners); parental leave coaching (as a mother to two children, she understands the nuanced challenges faced by working parents) and menopause coaching in a workplace context (for both individuals and managers). Her practice also includes coaching on stress, resilience and wellbeing, as well as confidence and imposter syndrome.
Rebecca trained as a solicitor at Norton Rose before moving to Baker McKenzie as a senior associate and progressing to Partner in the Structured Capital Markets group. As a Partner, Rebecca played a pivotal role in championing well-being and support for working parents, spearheading initiatives such as maternity networking and coaching, as well as having responsibility for the pastoral care of the broader team in which she worked. Rebecca has first-hand experience of many of the challenges faced by lawyers, as well as a deep understanding of what is required to progress in a professional services environment.
